Can Infrared Thermal Camera Be Used to Perspect and Penetrat

2020-07-10 10:05

Infrared thermal imager has the characteristics of penetrating smoke and haze, not interfered by low illumination and strong solar light, so it is widely used in various industries and has a very broad development prospect. However, many people also have a lot of misunderstanding about infrared thermal imaging instrument. Here, take Yoseen Infrared thermal cameras as the representative to explain one by one:

1. Can infrared thermal camera take a thermal image of anything and measure temperature accurately?

The infrared thermal imager can display the surface thermal distribution of any object in the current environment very accurately, which is unmatched by other temperature measuring products. However, it also has certain limitations, for some surface reflective or high finish of the object, the infrared thermal imaging device is a little difficult to display. Therefore, the closer the surface of the target is to the mirror, the worse the reliability of infrared thermal camera is.

2. Can infrared thermal cameras and infrared night vision devices penetrate walls?

All the infrared temperature measurement and imaging products can only reflect the heat distribution on the surface of the object in real time, which cannot penetrate the object. Some seemingly "penetrating" phenomena, such as sticking your hand on the back of a piece of white paper, will show the infrared thermal image of the hand through the paper, but in fact, that is only the temperature of the hand transferred to the white paper, the final detection is still the temperature of the white paper surface, not the temperature of the hand. Many of the films use infrared thermographs to penetrate the walls for reconnaissance, which is just artistic rendering, not real. The bottom line: Infrared thermal imagers can't penetrate any surface!

3. Can infrared thermal camera image objects of any size?

How far and how big infrared thermal camera can measure things, I think all customer groups want to know. For infrared thermal camera, the smaller the measured object is, the higher the infrared pixel resolution is required and the smaller the spatial resolution is required. For objects of the same size to be measured, the higher the infrared pixel resolution and the smaller the spatial resolution of the infrared thermal imager are, the farther the detectable distance will be.
